You’re in luck if you’ve been wondering where to locate the cheapest airfares! It is now simpler and less expensive than ever to tour the world in the twenty-first century. Even the most frugal person may go abroad thanks to cheap flights, credit card points, and limitless resources.
Contrary to popular belief, travel is a costly luxury that only a select few can afford. You may discover inexpensive flights to any destination in the globe by using the advice that follows. Simply reconsider your travel destination if you’re still unable to pay for it!
Be Flexible With Everything
Being flexible is the most important guideline while looking for low-cost flights (well, maybe luck too). You’re in great condition to score an amazing discount if you’re flexible with your dates, destination, and departure airport!
Airport Flexibility
When looking for inexpensive one-way or round-trip tickets, compare pricing from other local airports that could involve a drive. Airports located around one hour apart may charge more than $200 for the same travel destination. The same applies to the flexibility of the airport at your destination; check the costs of airports other than the busiest ones. The place you wish to go could only be a bus trip away in the end. Just bear in mind that you will also need to account for the cost of parking if you want to leave your car at the airport for the duration of your vacation, as well as the cost of transit to the airport.
Date Flexibility
For the majority of working people, date flexibility is arguably the most difficult aspect of travel. Because of how flexible my employment is, I usually aim to schedule vacations from Saturday to Sunday in order to maximize my five paid time off days. However, it’s undeniable that being flexible with dates pays payouts. When looking for a flight, always examine the fare calendar or the dates that surround it to see if there is any pricing flexibility.
Travel Time & Distance Flexibility
In terms of cost, round-trip tickets are not necessarily the most expensive. Always use the main flight search engines and the websites of low-cost airlines to find the cost of a one-way ticket to a given location. Furthermore, really low-cost flights may involve lengthy layovers or many stops. I make an effort to limit the amount of time I spend traveling, but you can guarantee that if the ticket is exceptionally inexpensive and I’m ready, I’ll accept one or more extra layovers!
Use the Right Resources & Cheap Flight Tools
Now, let’s be specific about locating the most affordable flights to any destination. I’m only going to list the fly tools that I often use because there are millions of them available these days (please share your favorite tools with me in the comment area!).
Start your research in Google Flights
I start my search using Google Flights almost exclusively, despite my dislike of caving in to the all-powerful Google empire. Although the calendar contains capabilities to search different dates, durations, maximum costs, and more, it just provides me with a basic notion of flight pricing for my dates.
I almost always plan a vacation, so once I start to narrow down when I want to travel (typically two to eight months out), I start checking Google Flights a few times a week to get a sense of the most popular and least expensive routes, the major airlines that fly those routes, and the least expensive dates.
Make a List of Cheapest Flights
I then begin compiling a spreadsheet with the cheap flights prices I can locate. You wish to note the following: Cost, Dates, Travel Time, and Airport Code (XXX>XXX). When my departure date approaches, I search for tickets using a credit card and double-check the top flights on my list, which frequently have price changes.
Working the Points System to Find Cheapest Flights to Anywhere
Airline Points
Even though I’m still learning a lot about airline points, I do know that creating an account and accruing points for each and every travel is crucial. You must participate in any airline’s rewards program if one exists. I did this for years with American Airlines but could never remember my AAdvantage number, so now I make a note of every single airline login/number and email it to myself every time I change it so I don’t lose the points.
Credit Card Points
Please disregard this section and go on to tip number four if you struggle with money management, just spending what you have, and making on-time bill payments.
Credit cards are unsettling. I had a strong anti-credit card sentiment for many years since I believed that owning a credit card would always lead to debt and unmanageable finances. Then I understood that, in fact, I am really skilled at planning and handling money. My first credit card was a Discover card with no travel point benefits that I opened to establish credit. Later, I received an incredible Chase Sapphire credit card with travel points. Although there are many credit cards available, I suggest Capital One Venture and Chase Sapphire.
How to Find Cheap Flights to Anywhere?
Is there ever anything that is successful that doesn’t have some passion behind it? Not because I have to, but rather because I’m addicted and can’t stop thinking about my next trip, I look for flights well into the night. There are moments when I lose an hour searching for flights to a place that I have a.5% chance of visiting anytime soon. This is how travelers on low-cost airlines operate. BE ONE!
Register for ticket discount alerts (such as those from Scott’s Cheap Flights or Google Alerts), fiddle about with the dates and places of your flights, and speak about your future travels all the time like a college student returning after a semester spent in Spain.
Cheap Travel Packing Tips
When you travel cheaply, you save money on luggage. Simply put, luggage is what it sounds like. bulky, cumbersome, and heavy.
Unless you’re relocating abroad or something, you should ONLY check a bag if it’s part of the cost of your travel. Bringing only a carry-on is still recommended, even if a checked bag is supplied. It is best to explore the world when one feels light and free. Having a single small bag or backpack makes moving much easier.
