AirAsia economy class is a true pioneer of budget travel, with simple branding, low tickets, and minimal frills, so I always leave a satisfied customer.
They don’t promise me the world, but they always deliver, from superb crew members with exceptional customer service abilities to presenting the most legendary airplane meal ever.
I’ve taken over 25 AirAsia flights in the past, and each one has been a fantastic experience.
AirAsia allows you to customize your travel experience with additional meal luggage, extra legroom outfits, or simply a basic flight for an exceptionally low ticket, which is what the airline is all about.
AirAsia now operates 100 A320s and still has 362 Airbus A321neos on order, which were delayed owing to the pandemic but will be delivered later in 2024.
But for now, let’s go on the plane and see what Air Asia has in store for us.
The Air Asia Airbus A320 Cabin and Seat Review
AirAsia is one of my favorite budget airlines in the world. I was greeted warmly at the door by the team, who were in a great mood.
AirAsia’s fleet contains 180 seats in a conventional 3-3 arrangement. You can always purchase a seat with more legroom on the emergency exit row, like I did.
I requested respectfully at the check-in counter if I could have the emergency row, which has a little extra leg room, as shown in the picture, and it greatly improved my travel experience.
In-Flight Entertainment on AirAsia
There is no personal screen on AirAsia’s in-flight entertainment system, so you may either browse the onboard magazine, which also includes the menu for on-board purchases if you haven’t pre-booked your meal, or use the in-flight WiFi.
Unfortunately, the WiFi on my flight was not working, therefore I am unable to provide a review for it. But, given my previous experience, AirAsia provides a rather consistent connection.
In-Flight Meal Review on Air Asia Economy Class
Air Asia does not provide a complimentary in-flight meal in economy class, so you must either order it ahead of time as an extra or purchase one during the journey.
I did that, so here we are with Uncle Chin Chicken Rice, one of my all-time favourites and a highly iconic dish in the aviation sector. It has been around for many years and is simply fantastic.
Outstanding AirAsia Cabin Crew
On this flight, one staff member stuck out to me. Her name is Jody, and she was an amazing superstar. She had a large smile on her face, was very active, and her communication skills with the passengers were excellent. I adore seeing her take such pride in her work.
It was a dramatic contrast to Qatar Airways, who had blacklisted me. They claim to be world-class or the best airline in the world. Given how extensively they promote their team as one of the greatest in the world, you’d have much greater expectations.
While you would have lesser expectations for AirAsia, their cabin crew is truly world-class, and what Jody represented on this trip was wonderful. Definitely one of the best crews I’ve seen in a long time.
Jody, you are an AirAsia rockstar, and I hope your company realizes and acknowledges that.
AirAsia A320 Lavatory
The following is a comprehensive evaluation of AirAsia’s Airbus A320. You can tell it’s a touch antiquated, but this plane has been flying for nearly a decade.
I’m not sure how long AirAsia will keep their A320s in operation, but I believe this one will fly for another 5 to 10 years.
Arrival in Kuala Lumpur
We began our descent at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. There are two terminals or airports in Kuala Lumpur. One is for Malaysia Airlines and all other international airlines, whereas this one is only for AirAsia and cheap flights, and it opened about 4 or 5 years ago.
Once I had my suitcase, I headed to Kuala Lumpur city centre, which is around an hour’s drive from the airport, depending on traffic.
AirAsia Economy Class – Bottom Line
AirAsia was an excellent flight. With a given price tag, there are certain expectations, correct? And AirAsia offers very affordable prices. However, they exceed expectations.
The meal was delicious, the seats were excellent (I had my own row), and the personnel was fantastic.
As I have stated, Jody was an incredible contribution to the organization, and I hope she receives the accolades she deserves. It’s wonderful to see individuals enjoying their jobs.
