Delta and United Airlines stop flights to Israel in reaction to rising Middle East tensions. United Airlines will discontinue its daily service from Newark Liberty International Airport to Tel Aviv, beginning with the flight planned for Wednesday night.
The airline is immediately addressing security concerns and carefully analyzing the situation to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew members on board. A United representative told them that they are actively following the crisis and will adjust their plans accordingly.
Delta Airlines is temporarily suspending flights between New York’s JFK Airport and Tel Aviv until August 2. Sales for the impacted flights, which include DL234 and DL235, have also been halted.
Delta Airlines has issued a travel waiver that allows travelers to amend their arrangements without suffering fee differences until August 14. All guests affected by the rapid cancellations will be contacted via the Fly Delta app and their reservation contact information.
Both airlines have encouraged passengers to check for updates and modifications. U.S. tourists affected by these cancellations are entitled to a full cash refund, even if their tickets were nonrefundable.
The US State Department has issued a travel advise urging Americans to rethink visiting Israel and the West Bank on their next vacation and to avoid visiting Gaza due to the current fighting.
